Kelly Real Estate formerly known as Kern City Real Estate has been centrally located in Kern City since the 1960s. Kelly Real Estate specializes in Residential and Commercial sales and Investment Property Management. The Real Estate Company is run by Bakersfield locals Jim and Brian Dandy.
The Dandys have an 89 year legacy in home sales, property management, and construction in California. In 1927 J.L. Dandy began developing property in the San Fernando Valley. In the 1940s he expanded into the San Joaquin Valley and moved the J.L. Dandy & Co. headquarters to Bakersfield in 1949.
James F. Dandy began working with his father while still in high school, and recalls building houses in Bakersfield, Wasco, and Shafter. He graduated from the University of Southern California in 1956, and shortly after obtained his broker’s license. In 2007 James joined forces with Patrick Kelly in assisting with the successful growth of Kelly Management and Kelly Real Estate. Today he is still an active leader in the Bakersfield real estate industry.
Brian Dandy, like his father and grandfather started working summer jobs helping to build houses. While attending Fresno State University, he spent time in the J. L. Dandy property management business. And shortly after graduating in 1987 he obtained his broker’s license. During his career Brian has helped to manage many real estate brokerages including Coldwell Banker and Prudential in addition to the family business J. L. Dandy & Co. He has been active in the Association of Realtors serving as its president in 1997. Recently Brian joined his father, and the Kellys at Kelly Real Estate. We are busy helping families buy, sell and manage their properties in the Bakersfield area.
Kelly Management is a third generation Bakersfield Property Management company. In 1952, Tom and Mary Kelly, both born and raised in Kern County – Shafter and Fellows, to be exact – returned to Bakersfield after Tom finished his service in the US Army. After a short stint in the insurance business, Tom took advantage of Kern County’s plentiful real estate opportunities, and began putting together land development transactions. By the mid 60’s, Tom formed Thomas Kelly Associates, and was instrumental in much of the growth that took place in Bakersfield’s southwest area. As the development continued, both for commercial and residential use, Tom saw a growing need for quality management services for developed property. He quickly established a property management business that has been growing ever since. In the early 80’s, Tom and Mary’s son, Patrick entered the family business, eventually taking over from Tom and running Kelly Management as the CEO in 2003. Under Patrick’s leadership, Kelly Management expanded picking up new business and providing new services, such as management of single family dwellings. He focused on building community relationships and added significantly to Kelly Management’s residential communities. Patrick continued to build a strong team to address the expanding services, firmly believing that the integrity of the staff is essential to the ultimate quality of the services. Today, Kelly Management and Real Estate are in the capable hands of his wife, Sarah and son, Curtis Kelly.
